Website Update: New Search Engine

Our waiting is over, and our efforts do produce fruits.

As of 29 0424H May 2005, the UP Manila ROTC Web Portal and the UP Manila Corps of Cadets website have come up in the Alltheweb.com search engine.

The first item that came up actually was the Cadence's POS 2001 article when the topic "ROTC Sponsors" was typed in the search topic.

The UP Manila ROTC/COC Websites were submitted to 15 search engines, including alltheweb.com

Keep posted for updates and give me articles that you may want!

Website Updates: COC Website

As of the moment, the website administrator is pleased to announce that the following pages have been added/developed in the Corps of Cadets Website:
  1. Change of the "Photo Gallery" into a "Corps Acvitities" page, with explanation on the typology of major and common Cadet activities. Each type has a sample picture of the common activities.
  2. KBG sub-section. This section has new pages on brief history and commanders, unit-specific activities. A POI (Program of Instruction) page is available, but it is not yet fully functional due to lack of available data.
  3. A "Vocabulary" page for common UPM ROTC terms and abbreviations.
Currently, the COC Website has significant development targets (i.e., it is lacking the following):
  1. Rayadillo article
  2. UPM ROTC Program of Instructions
  3. Comprehensive Corps history
  4. Unit articles on all special training schools
  5. Cadence articles database (there is already a page, but it lacks the appropriate links to the articles. Further, not all articles are there).
Most of the above targets could be resolved via human resource.

Keep posted for developments.

Greetings, Everyone!

A lot of new pictures, more articles and easier access.

That's how the ROTC-COC website would become when the updated site is unveiled.

Target date of publishing the COC website and ROTC Portal:

You could excpect these developments:

ROTC Web Portal:

  • Inclusion of an NSTP Page
  • Updated contact information for Cadet Officer Candidate
  • Better explanation for the "Keep Updated" page
  • Songs page
  • Target Date: June 2, 2005
Corps of Cadets Website:

  • Rayadillo Article
  • Cadence Article Database, with data on by-line and issue.
  • Updated Photo Gallery: "ROTC Activities" Page replaces the Photo Gallery page, with explanation on typology of ROTC activities and links to specific Corps-level activities with pictorial
  • Unit Sections
  • Informative pages

  • Corps Organization
  • Sponsor Selection Process
  • Target: June 9, 2005
There are a lot of developments in the ROTC websites, and these are for the upcoming academic year, 2005-2006. What would we want our future trainees to see of the Corps?

Are you up to the challenge?

Questions for this Post:

  1. Where do you want to put the Anthologies page (aside from the DHC), in the ROTC portal or in the COC website?
  2. How about the ROTC songs, in the ROTC portal or COC website?
You could put your answers on the Chatterbox below!

Thanks a lot!

Website Updates: UP Manila ROTC Portal appears in Yahoo! Search

Hello everyone!

The UP Manila ROTC Web Portal finally appeared in the Yahoo! search, Number 1!

It's something we should use. Now, we could even tell everyone to use Yahoo! Search and use the keywords "UP Manila ROTC" and they would get to the right page.

This would communicate our serious efforts and the professionalism of an organization - a former organization, but an institution nonetheless in UP.

You might also want to search for "UP Manila Corps of Sponsors," and one search entry is my personal blog.

Okay. So much for that.

Now, we go to the plans.

With this development, we have to develop our websites to include as much useful information as possible. We would include a page about NSTP, particularly about history and program implementation in the UP Manila situation. Some papers would be useful here... I would also try to get data from the UP Manila for inclusion in our website.

For the Corps of Cadets site, the unit articles are difficult to produce. Of course. O, well. Each unit section would have at least the following pages:

Cadence introductory article
Unit Introduction and Specialization Explanation
Program of Instructions
Unit Activities (with pictures)
Related Cadence Articles

If possible, a unit history would be included in unit section.

These developments are encouraging. I hope we would all do our best in developing the websites.

Thanks.

Website Updates: New Articles in COC Website!

Konnichiwa, minna-san,

I. There are new articles on the following units in the Corps of Cadets website:
  1. Cadence - finally finished.
  2. Kampilan Battle Group
  3. Service Support Unit
In addition, the "Units" page has been scrapped. Instead, the links to the units have been put on the left column of the Units and Organization page (formerly, the "Command and Control" page).

II. Upcoming articles:

Strike Force

There is no Cadence article on Rayadillo in my files. Anyone care to write on that or in other units, like the SF, COCC, NCOTC, or the Corps of Officers (The COS has a dedicated website, why not at least a feature on officer corps?)?

III. I would no longer create separate websites for the units (e.g., KBG website or Rayadillo). Instead, I would put Unit-specific sections in the COC website.

IV. COS, any ideas or articles?

V. I encourage you to give your feedback on the website. Try searching for the website in Google, as I have not yet seen our website in that Search Engine. We have made a significant breakthrough in having it appear in Yahoo!

Try also other search engines you know, as I have submitted the site to fifteen search engines.

VI. If you have other feedback, including layout, I would be happy to hear them.

Thanks.

Website Updates

We apologize for the slowness of updates in the ROTC websites (Main Portal, COC, COS and KBG). Rest assured, though, that more information and pages would be added to the websites.

As an initial step, we are adding a page for information on how keep yourself up-to-date via news feeds. Updates would include not just for the websites, though, but also other activities about the UP Manila ROTC: Websites, COC, COS, activities, and soon, the UP Vanguard, Inc., Manila Chapter.

Thanks.
