New Layout, Streamlined Presentation

In an effort to avoid clutter, minimize confusion, and rationalize the overall presentation and organization of the website's pages, the major sections have been re-organized as can be seen in the website of the Corps of Cadets.

As of the moment, only the COC website has been re-designed. The Web Portal and the COS website have yet to be studied if there is a need for re-design of its presentation.

In addition, a lot of new articles have been added in the Database. Most are socially related articles (such as "United States: Peace Promoter or Warlord?") and Views from the Top  articles. For the moment, it is deemed that it would be beneficial for the site (rather, ro the visitors of the site) to include socially relevant published articles first (instead of purely cadet corps news, like registration updates).

Further, so that articles would not have a problem with finding sites (in case the search tool does not work properly or as expected), the articles would have again the links in the Database page.

We hope this development would allow visitors to have easier navigation of the websites and get the information they need easier.

UP Manila ROTC Anniversary

September 26, 1991 - UP Manila ROTC has been recognized as a distinct headquarters/unit by General Order 85 HMCMTC (and separated from the UP Diliman ROTC unit).

While there is still no general order for disbanding the unit, the UP Manila ROTC has ceased to function effectively since SY 2002-2003. Considering this, the ROTC Unit was able to exist for 11 years before its Corps has been decreased of enlistees (particularly volunteers). As of this moment, there is no known UP Manila student taking NSTP with MTS-ROTC. All colleges have set up NSTP courses and have discouraged interested individuals in enrolling in ROTC - either verbal discouragement or administrative hindrance.

A history of the UP Manila ROTC, and the UP ROTC in general, are available here.

Streamlined Database

Utilizing the search tool, we have streamlined the Database page (in the COC website) so that only the most recently added articles would be shown here. Visitors could use the search engine to get the articles that they want to go to. If they could not get that information or could not get to the old page that they have already gone to, they could use the Contact Us page to ask us for the exact link/URL.
This has been done to enhance the functionality of the search engine, and minimize clutter in this page.
Using the search engine, also, would allow the user to search through all the related websites of the organization - including the COS website, ROTC portal, and this announcement RSS/blog.
